The Lions of Illinois Foundation is proud to offer the following programs
for the hearing impaired in Illinois.
The Mobile Hearing Screening Unit is one the most visible services of the LIF. This "hearing exam on wheels' is often seen at health fairs, schools, and even the Illinois State Fair. Reaching out to the communities we serve, the Mobil Hearing Screening Unit is hosted by Local Lions/Lioness Clubs to provide hearing screenings throughout Illinois. While the screenings are free, donations are always accepted to ensure this program will continue.

This program proviides an alternative to expensive hearing aids by reconditioning donated used aids. Learn how the LIF collects and distributes these hearing aids by clicking on the link below.
The Lions of Illinois Infant Hearing Screening Program is open to children birth to age five years old. Our screenings uses small sound emissions called Otacoustic Emissions. These sounds are generated by a normal healthy ear. By placing a soft plug into the ear canal volunteer audiologists can record these sounds and display them on a computer screen. If otacoustic emissions are present, this suggests that the child has normal hearing.

Established in 1987 the Cochlear Implant Program is a cooperative effort with the Cochlear Implant Center located at the University of Illinois in Chicago. This center provides children & adults with a behind the ear cochlear implant.
