What is an Endowment Fund and why do we need one?
The Endowment Fund is an opportunity for Lions, Lioness, Non-Lions, Businesses and others to give a great gift that keeps on giving. In short, it is a restricted fund. People contribute to it through tax-deductible giving. The funds given are not spent, rather they are pooled together and invested. The interest is used for humanitarian purposes. The Endowment Fund is one way the Lions back up their charitable giving and try to guarantee continuation of programs that benefit the blind and deaf.
A link is provided for your convenience for each program with additional material and/or forms.
How are funds contributed?
Funds are contributed in many ways. The most popular way is through a memorial gift. Memorials are gifts made in a person's name who has passed on. A second method is through Honorariums, which are gifts given in honor of a special occasion, such as a birthday, get well wish, retirement, anniversary, promotion, or to mark a special event in your, a family member, or friends life. Please contact the LIF office at 1-800-955-5466 to make arrangements for such gifts.
A third method is the Tree of Service. The tree stands for the various programs offered through the Lions of Illinois Foundation. The branches are symbolic of how Lions Clubs reach out into the community through their services and the community is symbolized by the leaves on the tree. Gifts for the tree are as follows:
$1,000.00 - leaf
$3,000.00 - cluster of leaves
$5,000.00 - rock
